Jodie journey

Yoga came into my life in my early 20s, during a time when I was carrying a lot of unspoken grief and anger. I tried so many things – reiki, counselling, even hypnotherapy, but nothing truly helped me sit with my emotions the way yoga did.

I initially came to yoga for the physical practice. But over time, through the wisdom and generosity of the incredible teachers I’ve been lucky enough to learn from, I discovered so much more. Yoga gave me tools, not to get rid of my emotions, but to understand them, hold space for them, and move through them with compassion.

This practice has been life-changing for me. It’s why I felt so deeply called to teach. My hope is to hold space for others the way my teachers do for me, and to share the power of this practice with anyone who might seek it.

So far, I’ve completed over 500 hours of teacher training. My teaching journey started in Bali in 2018 where I did my first 200-hour Vinyasa and Hatha teacher training and had the privilege of learning from a mix of Eastern and Western teachers. I later deepened my practice by completing the 300-hour Jivamukti teacher training at an ashram near Mumbai, India, where I dived into the Jivamukti Yoga method, teachings that have had such a profound impact on my journey.

Today, I teach regularly at Phoenix Yoga in Kincumber on the Central Coast, yet I will always remain a student. I continue to study with my inspiring mentors and am endlessly curious, often found with a book in hand, diving deeper into the teachings of yogic philosophy.
